Springfield Botanical Gardens The 113-acre Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park is home to Springfield Botanical Gardens, featuring dozens of themed gardens. The park also includes the Dr. Bill K. Roston Native Butterfly House (April-October), Gray-Campbell Farmstead (oldest cabin in Springfield) Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden, and Lake Drummond. The park connects to South Creek Greenway and includes several other paved walking trails. Missouri State University Growing Springfield's intellectual community for more than 100 years, MSU features a beautiful campus with several events open to the public every month! See the complete calendar for events you may want to attend. It also features a degree plan for non-traditional students. Be sure to visit their Adult students website if you have questions about returning to school. Ozarks Technical Community College The community's community college supports thousands of students with diverse backgrounds. OTC is a great and affordable resource for students who want to get a degree or just take classes for enjoyment or professional development. Springfield-Greene County History Museum "This site has images, links to images, maps, links to maps, online essays, and links to publications dealing with the history of Springfield, Greene County, the Ozarks, and Missouri." You can use this site for almost everything needed to find answers about Springfield history. Missouri State Historical Society Founded 1898 by the Missouri Press Association and a trustee of the state since 1899, the State Historical Society of Missouri is the preeminent research facility for the study of the Show Me State's heritage. Housed in Ellis Library on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. Missouri Department of Conservation Information about fishing, hunting & trapping, nature, forestry, and the Conservationist Magazine. Dickerson Park Zoo Take a walk on the wild side at our hometown zoo! It is home to more than 400 animals representing 130 species. Discovery Center of Springfield "This website contains information about all of the programs and services the Discovery Center of Springfield has to offer. Check it often to find out about our latest events, exhibits, and opportunities!" Wilson's Creek National Battlefield Come and enjoy the only Civil War battlefield in our back yard! The site includes a brief discussion about events leading to the battle, and its effects on Missouri's involvement in the Civil War, information on upcoming special events and some photos of past events. You will also find a tour of the battlefield and map. |
